This is a - must- for every visitor to Bangkok, for the grand Palace Complex, which includes the Temple of The Emerald Buddha ( Wat Phra Keow ) is unquestionably one of the wonders of the world today. Within its enormous grounds is the most exotic Buddhist temple and at the heart of the temple itself is a fabulous Buddha image, carved from one-piece jade, which is the holiest and most revered of religious objects in Thailand today.

Nearby is the Grand Palace, once the official home of the Kings of Siam - built in traditional Thai architecture mixed with European designs. You will also visit The Royal Funeral Hall and The Royal Coronation Hall. This palace has an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1783. The length of the four walls totals 1900 metres. Within these walls are situated government offices and the Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha besides the royal residences. When Siam restored law and order after the fall of Ayutthaya the monarch lived in Thonburi on the other side of the river. Rama I, immediately on ascending the throne, moved the centre of administration to this side of the Chao Phraya; and, after erecting public monuments such as fortifications and monasteries, built a palace to serve not only as his residence but also his offices - the various ministries, only one of which remains in the palace walls.

08:30 : Group will be transferred to Wat Phra Kaew, the Chaple of the Emerald Buddha, which houses the world’s most precious image of The Lord Buddha. The 75 cm statue of Jade Sits Otop an 11 m golden pedestal surrounded by Lavish Murala and Richly decorated pavilions.

Then group will be moved to visit the Grand Palace which encompass several Major building. The most prominent buildings include the Throne Hall, The Reception Hall and The Coronation Hall.

Grand Palace is one of the famous landmarks of Bangkok, with it’s dazzling golden temples, it’s definitely an eye catcher!
This is used to be the residence of the king but today, it’s used for ceremonial events and ofcourse, an attraction for tourists.
Grand Palace is considered Thailand’s most sacred site so proper clothing and behavior should be observed within the premises.
I'm giving it a 3 star only as I think the ticket price is too high as I've only spent a couple of hours at this temple complex, I didn't utilize what I paid that much as the weather is too hot to walk around and it's too crowded.

We arrived early to avoid the worst heat and the worst crowds, and it was the best decision ever. I think we easily spent 4-5 hours wandering around The Emerald Buddha temple (with all the adjacent buildings) and the palace grounds - there is a lot to take in. I would say do not bother with audio guide, you can only rent it for a limited time and it is not enough to listen to even half of it. We tried and we gave up as we did not want to rush. Fortunately, we were prepared and so we knew the most important buildings we wanted to see, plus had a good guide book with us. Do not miss the Ramayana murals, they are something to admire!

The Grand Palace is a must see in Bangkok. There are staff checking that you adhere to the dress code when you enter the complex, which is expected due to it being a religious site. The temples are amazing - such amazing detail! A must visit in Bangkok!

Great to understand Thai culture and history. Was just upset there is a dress code including no shorts. I am 64 and had capris on. Mid calf. I was told they were shorts and had to purchase a sarong for 180 baht. A Thai girl in front of me had open back shirt showing her bra! Felt discriminated as non Thai
