Ko Kret is a small island in the Chao Phraya River, just north of Bangkok, Thailand. It’s known as a settlement of the Mon people, whose famed terracotta is on display in the Kwan Aman Museum. This traditional earthenware is still produced in potteries along the river. On the northeastern tip of the island, Wat Poramai Yikawat is an important Buddhist temple featuring a reclining Buddha and a leaning stupa

Tour Description

This is small island so why not try to visit it with our Bycycle. Upon arrival, get outfitted with your bike and helmet, then set out with your guide for a relaxing bike ride through lesser know parts of Thailand.

Follow a path along the banks of the Chao Phraya River to experience the rhythms of daily life outside the capital city as you pass by villages, temples, and small farms.

Next, head away from the river and into the rural surroundings to see rice paddies and fruit plantations. Koh Kret is home to craftsmen that are known for their distinctive pottery, which features a reddish-black glazed surface and intricate designs. The island's residents are descendants of the Mon people, and they have maintained their traditional ceramics for generations.

We will serve the famous PAD THAI as lunch before finishing the tours.

If you love craft beer, live entertainment and you make it to Koh Kret during the PM hours of a weekend, there is only one place you need to go - Chet Beer. Upon arrival from the ferry, you can go to right to the near-by what, or you take the sidewalk to the left for a five-minute stroll to Chet Beer, easily the most famous bar on the island. It also serves some of the cheapest craft beer and gourmet hamburgers.

Ko Kret is wonderful in terms of self discovery. It is compact and historical- and one can explore the inspiring wats and chedis on one's own. It's a great place to travel to with friends by boat, as I did.

We enjoyed our day on Koh Kret a man-made island very close to Bangkok. Its very pretty and there are some nice places to relax and eat as well as a little market that sells some delicious local sweets. Its was an interesting day out as a respite from Bangkok.

Nice little island not too far away from Bangkok. If you seek quietness for a while, you should go there and walk around the island. If you go there during the week, you’ll be almost alone. Most shops/stalls are closed during the week, so it’s really nice and quiet.

Koh Kret is a little far away from Bangkok, you can travel by boat 15 baht to the end of the pier station from Saphan Taksin BTS, after that you can take taxi roughly 15 minute drive and a short boat to opposite of Koh Kret Island. Is a unique little Island which everything is very cheap. The market have various delicious food and dessert as well as some restaurant and coffee shop to chill and relax. You can also rent a bike that cost 40 baht per bike and cycle around the little Island and explore kampong style houses etc. Would recommend this location

This place have a very different vibe from metropolitan Bangkok. It's lovely to see how the old community around Bangkok still maintaining their traditional way and surprisingly so many locals (including youngster) visit the area.

Koh Kret is an island in the Chao Phraya river and is really worth visiting. The easiest way to get there is by taxi. Alternative ways are by Taxi-boat from Saphan Thaksin to Nonthaburi (last station) from there you can take a taxi or a long tail boat. to Pak Kret. From Pak Kret the ferry brings you over to Koh Kret.

This island is effectively man-made. Ko Kret is an artificial ‘island’, the result of a canal being dug nearly 300 years ago to shorten an oxbow bend in the Chao Phraya River. The labouring was carried out by the Mon people who are now the main residents.Today, Ko Kret is known for its rural atmosphere, its distinctive pottery and its busy weekend market. It is 5.2 kms around so our advice is to hire bikes as its a long walk in the heat if you aren't used to it.

Kho Kret was a nice break from the busy Bangkok. On our afternoon visit, we found ourselves in what looks like a place where locals like to escape to for a nice afternoon or evening out.

I have been to koh kret many times. Its a really nice and chilled out place to spend an afternoon watching the locals ply their trade. No cars on the island is a bonus. I always go on a weekend... do not fall into the trap i once did of thinking i would be clever by going on a weekday and avoiding the crowds.... nothing will be open and its a waste of a trip. Plus, at weekends whilst there are tourists i have never found it to be overcrowded. Enjoy!

I went to Koh Kret in Nonthaburi province. It is one of attraction that good for local people and foreigner to get the experience here. You have to use the private boat crossing to Koh Kret. There are varieties of attration temples, food, and cafe there.

A truely rural Thai setting within a stone throw of Bangkok. I got there by taking the BTS to Victory Monument, the Route 166 bus to Pak Kret (the conductor let me know when to get off) and walked around the back of the shops to Wat Sanam Neua pier. Easy 2 baht ferry across the river.

Koh Kret is In Nonthuburi a fair distance from the tourist areas of Bangkok,however is a pleasant trip and you should not be put off. BTS to Saphan Taksin, make your way to the pier and purchase a ticket to Nonthuburi pier 15 Baht
