CALYPSO - since 1988 on 364 days a year, two shows a day. Each show an audience of Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Malay, Indonesian, European, American nationalities. Different languages, religions, traditions, attitudes, mentalities at CALYPSO. An impact, at times a clash of cultural weight is unavoidable. CALYPSO's female performers are transgender people, born as boys, morphed by their genuine need to live as a female, to look like a woman.

Transgender shows in general impress with look-alike performances, personnell lavishly decked with costumes, feathers, sequins. The individual human being disappears under the spell of décor and effect. CALYPSO's history is the constant effort to free us from that stereotype, to fill the stage with rigorously trained and educated, spirited free bodies and minds, with beauty and excitement of individual talents for music, rhythm and dance - never catering to clichéd expectations what and how a show should be. How to Reach Bangkok?

By Flight

To reach for the city of Bangkok there are two main airports, one running in the North and another from the East of Bangkok. It is the Suvarnabhumi Airport that locates itself 25 km to the east and the Don Muang Airport located 24 km to the north catering to domestic and international flights in abundance.

Suvarnabhumi airport has direct and easy connectivity to the city by taxis, buses, and Airport Rail Link that is a high-speed train service in downtown Bangkok. There will be round the clock availability of roadway services from outside both the airports to drop you to your final destination.

By Road

The roadway services offer you with buses and taxis that get you wherever you wish to be in Bangkok. There are three bus terminals considered to be the major ones, the Northern Bus Terminal- Mochit, the Eastern Bus Terminal-Ekkamai, and the Southern Bus Terminal-Sa Tai.

The buses will take you not just round the city but also to Pattaya, Krabi, Phuket, etc. cities neighbouring Bangkok. If looking out for taxi services, then do know that the taxis run according to the metered price so confirm the prices before the journey.

The ladyboys in Thailand have such a big name all over the world however this cabaret failed to deliver anything amazing. It wasn't awful, it was ok. Cheesy fun but I would skip if you have limited time.

I kept waiting for the evening to get better but it really didn’t. I felt that at £30 a ticket (1 free drink, no dinner) we did not get a good value evening.

Perhaps it was the best seats we had next to the aisle at the front row but we were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the show overall. Sure, they are not singing but lip syncing in most of the acts and sometimes the dancing wasn't the best but alot of the costumes amazing and the group performances were very entertaining with lots of choreography. Some of the acts were cheesy at times or lasted abit too long but overall it was a good night out. Don;t expect anything too serious and you will enjoy the show.

Couldn’t dance couldn’t sing. So you are left with badly choreographed arm waving and posturing. The costumes were good. The miming awful, with many in the chorus not bothering. After a fabulous show in Cambodia last year of street kids I expected better. There is nothing to recommend this other than the novelty of it being lady boys.

We really didnt know what to expect as all we have ever seen are small town drag shows. This is WAY different! The entire calypso crew did an amazing job. Lots of laughs and an action packed show. The house was packed and for good reason. Music you can sing along to and great choreography. Every gay must go! Sachet you stay Calypso Cabaret!!

Visited the cabaret and for my luck they were celebrating their 30th Anniversary on that day. Managed to get an aisle seat and had a fabulous view of the show. Performers and the costumes too were excellent. Never felt the passing of one hour.

This was my first "Lady Boy" show and it was fantastic! The performers are so good, glam and gorgeous. It's quite a lot of work, surgery, money, emotional strain, etc., to become the other sex and these people clearly love being women and to perform. Yes, a tad cheesy at times, but that is part of what makes it so fun! Just go and smile!

Boring show. Seat is not comfortable at all. Staffs at ticket counter are great but the staff inside the theater showing seat is rude. They need to make the show interesting so that they can attract tourists like it used to be.
